Pull out your favorite cookie recipe and whip up a batch from scratch! The 6th Annual Teen Cookie Bake-Off is on Saturday December 3rd. Cookie drop-off begins at 11am with Judging at 2pm and the Awards Ceremony at 3:30pm in the Meeting Room. Teen bakers should bring two dozen home-baked cookies to the library to drop off in the Meeting Room. You must bring a copy of your recipe with your name and phone number on the back. We will have copies of all the recipes available.
Rules:
You are eligible if you are in grades 6-12.
You must register onlineand pick up a copy of the rules at the Children’s and Programming Desk.
No commercial mixes permitted (e.g., Betty Crocker)
Store-bought cookies are not allowed unless altered from their original form and used as an ingredient.
Entries will be judged on the following criteria: taste, creativity, presentation and level of difficulty. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. In addition, a Teen Choice Award will be selected by the teen voters, for a total of 7 prizes. Judges’ decisions are final.
Teens and their families are invited to sample the cookies and attend the Awards Ceremony from 3 – 3:30pm. Good luck and happy baking!
Join us Saturday from 1-4pm as we celebrate National Gaming Day. Teens in grades 6-12 - grab your friends and head to the library for fun and games. We’ll have the Wii set up for open play. There is also the opportunity for fabulous prize for the winner of our first SPIT card game tournament. If you don’t know how to play SPIT don’t worry, we’ll teach you.
Choose from our collection of over 40 board games to play with friends or bring your own. Door prizes will be given to a lucky few and refreshments will be available all day.
We had Ranger’s Apprentice author, John Flanagan, here at the library this evening. It was a fabulous visit. Thanks to all for coming out and welcoming him with such eager ears and interesting questions.
